No support for lumbar supports.
Low back supports are not useful in preventing or treating low back pain, according to a review article summarized in The Cochrane Library. The authors looked at 15 studies that included more than 15,000 people. They found little or no difference between people who used supports and those who did not. “We recommend the general population and workers not wear lumbar supports to prevent low back pain or for the management of low back pain,” said the lead author. If you are experiencing back pain or use a back support, call One80 Physical Therapy in Loveland and find out how we can eliminate and prevent back pain without gimmicks like belts and supports. Treat the cause, not the symptom.
Low back pain during pregnancy.
During pregnancy low back pain is common. Research has shown that hormone changes during pregnancy may cause ligament instability leading to low back pain. When your muscles work correctly, they are the primary joint stabilizers. Problems occur when muscles become “unplugged” and ligaments are overstressed. Because the One80 PT System. “plugs” the muscle back into the nervous system, ligaments aren’t overused, normal motion is restored, and pain is eliminated. Discover the difference between feeling better and getting better at One80.

Avoid soccer injury.
An article in Biomechanics magazine discussed the topic of muscle imbalances in athletes. It detailed a study that showed soccer players with muscle weakness in the hamstrings suffered four times more injuries than those who had balanced strength. The article stated that every type of athlete would benefit from a preseason total body strength assessment. One80 Physical Therapy PT is the only clinic that assesses AND corrects muscle weakness throughout the entire Kinetic Matrix leading to maximized MoStreBility. That is why we are the leader in rehabilitation AND injury prevention. The best way to rehab an injury, avoid it. Call Dr. Rhett Polka today at (970) 593-9300 for your FREE consultation. Think different, live well at One80PT.
MoStreBility eats flexibility for breakfast.
Recent research suggests that a warm-up focused on flexibility may not be the most effective way to prepare for exercise. The research showed that static stretching did not significantly reduce the risk of injury, and negatively affects reaction time. The One80 PT System believes in a dynamic warm-up that includes sport specific motions. The purpose of our program is to maximize MoStreBility (Motion+Strength+Stability) and prepare the body to function in multiple planes. This allows you to perform at your best, and avoid injury. MoStreBility eats flexibility for breakfast. Use your brain before your body at One80PT.

Ankle sprains get better today with One80 Physical Therapy Systems!
Ankle sprains are the most common athletic injury in all high school sports according to a study done at Ohio State University. Researchers reviewed data from 100 high schools focusing on football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, baseball, and softball. They concluded that injuries most often occur during competition vs. practice, basketball players have the most ankle injuries, and almost half of the athletes injured missed seven to twenty two days of play. Unfortunately for those athletes, they weren’t treated at One80 PT. Because Dr. Polka understands the importance of evaluating and treating the entire Kinetic Matrix (ankle sprains usually are caused by knee, hip and trunk weakness) and is able to re-establish MoStreBility (Motion+Strength+Stability), our ankle sprain patients usually return to play immediately, without braces or tape. Get off the bench and stay in the game at One80PT.
Ankle sprains, no brace needed!
Research from the University of Georgia shows wearing ankle braces may have damaging results. Sixteen female athletes wore an ankle brace during a double-leg landing test. The results showed a significant difference in knee mechanics while wearing the brace. These changes may increase the risk of injuries including ACL tears. Athletes that rely on muscles instead of braces perform better and are less likely to get injured. One80 Physical Therapy focuses on maximizing MoStreBility in order to restore proper function rather than just handing out braces and tape. Call (970) 593-9300 today for your FREE consultation with Dr. Rhett Polka and experience the difference. Think different, live well at One80PT.
Prevent ankle sprains at One80!
Studies from the Institute of Physical Therapy found that predicting ankle injuries among high school basketball players may be as easy as one preseason screening exercise. They researchers measured ankle strength, single leg balance, and ankle flexibility prior to the subject’s basketball season. During the season, 43% of the players sustained ankle injuries and the only variable that related with injury was single leg balance. One of the evaluation tools that we use with every patient at One80 PT is a single leg squat. Dr. Rhett Polka uses this test to assess MoStreBility with all patients, not just athletes. The easiest way to rehab an injury is to avoid it in the first place at One80PT.
